Ages 11–13 (6th Grade – 8th Grade)
A full week of real coding, real projects, real output.
Code Lab is a dedicated coding week where students work across Microsoft MakeCode and Minecraft Education Edition — writing real code, building games and interactive experiences, and applying logic skills inside Minecraft's creative environment. VEX VR ties both sessions together with virtual robotics challenges.
Coding
Code Lab is for the student who is ready to be taken seriously as a coder. Microsoft MakeCode introduces real programming syntax — the kind of code that transfers directly to professional languages — while Minecraft Education Edition provides a creative environment where those same skills are applied at scale. VEX VR extends the coding experience into virtual robotics, where students program autonomous behaviors and test them in simulation. Together, these three platforms create a full-week experience that moves students from learners to builders — from following instructions to making real decisions about how their code should work and why.
Code Lab is for the older student who is serious about coding and wants a week that treats them that way. MakeCode, Minecraft Education Edition, and VEX VR give students more depth, more creative freedom, and more technical challenge than any single-platform program can offer. Students leave with a body of work they built themselves, a clearer sense of what kind of coder they want to become, and the confidence that comes from a week spent doing something genuinely hard.
