Love to Code Academy — Kansas City

We grow kids, not just coders.

We’re a youth character development academy in the Kansas City area — using coding, robotics, and technology as environments where K–8 students build confidence, teamwork, and character.

Our story

Love to Code Academy was built on a simple belief: that the best thing technology can do for a young person is help them discover who they are and what they’re capable of creating. Founded in the Kansas City area, we serve students in kindergarten through 8th grade through after-school programs, camps, workshops, and more. From the beginning, our focus has never been the code — it’s always been the kid.

Our mission

Love to Code Academy helps students develop stronger relationships, responsibility, and purpose by using coding, robotics, and technology as environments where they practice teamwork, persistence, integrity, and leadership. Technology is the environment — character development is the outcome. That’s the idea behind everything we do: we grow kids, not just coders.

Our character framework

Every program at Love to Code Academy is built around four pillars of character development. Students don’t just practice coding — they practice being good teammates, staying persistent when things get hard, taking ownership of their work, and discovering what drives them. These aren’t soft add-ons to our curriculum. They’re the curriculum.

Our approach

  • Hands-on, project-based learning in every session — students build real things, solve real problems, and present their work
  • Small class sizes with intentional instructor coaching, so every student receives consistent feedback and encouragement
  • Real tools and real environments — including Kodable, VEX 123 robotics, and game design platforms used at every level
  • Character development woven into every class — students practice teamwork, persistence, integrity, and leadership every session, not just at the end of a semester

Who we are as a team

Our instructors are trained coaches of character — not just technology teachers. They’re selected for their ability to create structured, encouraging environments where students are challenged, supported, and genuinely known. Every instructor follows the Love to Code coaching model, naming the traits students demonstrate in real time and holding consistent, high standards for both behavior and work. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment for every student. Families can expect a structured, respectful space where kids feel they belong from the very first session. Love to Code Academy is not a licensed childcare facility. Our programs are structured educational activities — parents should arrange drop-off and pick-up accordingly and reach out with any questions about supervision during class sessions.
